The British Battalion

I have been reminded that it is the 70th anniversary of the formation of the ‘British Battalion’ the amalgamation of the Leicestershire Regiment and the East Surry Regiment in Malaya in 1941. See page 3 in the 1948 edition of the Green Tiger.

I wonder if 2nd Bn Royal Anglian Regiment still toasts the, ‘The British Battalion’ (see para iii) in the article?

Since I posted this I have been told that the medals of Lt Col Charles Esmond Morrison OBE MC, who was the Commanding Officer of the Leicesters' at the time of the amalgamation, are displayed at the Regimental Museum at Newarke Houses, Leicester.

I have also been sent a photo of The General Committee of the Association toasting the 'British Battalion' it can be seen on: http://sites.google.com/site/tigerinthenews/looking-back---various-photos-page-2 At the bottom of the page
