Biography :

Went to Green Lane School in Leicester. He was a cutter for the firm of Waterhouse Reynolds but enlisted when war broke out in 1914. Served with the 2nd Bn during World War One, and was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal. His D.C.M. citation ' For conspicuous gallantry in bringing up and distributing ammunition under heavy fire'. London Gazette 5th April 1916. Admitted to hospital on 23.1.1916 when serving in Mesopotamia. His D.C.M. and World War One campaign medals and documents are held this museum.
