Biography :
John Howes enlisted 3.2.1930 and served in 2nd Bn The Leicestershire Regiment. Appointed Paid Lance Corporal 5.7.1931, and Corporal 15.10.1933. Placed on 'A' reserve 2.2.1937. Rejoined in 1940. Awarded the Military Medal in World War Two for his conduct as a Platoon Sergeant/Commander, 2nd Leicesters, Egypt/Crete/Syria, Dec 1940-Aug 1941 ( L.G. 30.12.1941). Released class 'A' 31.10.1945.
He died in 1986, aged 75 years.
