James Hopewell was commissioned Lt into 6th Bn The Leicestershire Regiment on 20.5.1915, and entered France on 29.7.1915. He was Killed in Action by shrapnel in the battle of Bazentin Wood on 14.7.1916, aged 19 years. He is commemorated on Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.
