Enlisted in The Leicestershire Regiment. Awarded Mention in Despatches 30.12.1941 for work as RQMS, 1st Bn Nigeria Regiment, Madagascar, Feb-Mar 1941. Awarded M.B.E. 17.1.1946 for work as Lt Quartermaster, 1st Bn Nigeria Regiment, Arakan, Burma, Feb-May 1945. Served in UK and Hong Kong with 1st Bn in 1949. Quartermaster (Captain) with the Regimental Depot in 1950. 1960-63 RO3 Admin Officer at Depot Forester Brigade, Glen Parva Barracks.
