Served with the 2/5th Bn during World War One. Killed in action France and Flanders campaign 27.9.1917, aged 27. He is commemorated on Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium.

Francis was the son of George and Jane nee Moor. He was born in Shepshed in 1889 and was one of nine children.
Unfortunately no records survive to show when Francis joined the army. All we do know is that he sadly died on the 27th of September 1917.
