Biography :
'Jack' Harding joined The Leicestershire Regiment in December 1908. Promoted to Lance Sergeant on 1.12.1912. Served with the 1st Bn in France from 1914. He was later taken a prisoner of war and held in Germany. He was invalided to The Netherlands in 1918. After World War One he was posted to the Regimental Depot, where he served as Orderly Room Sergeant and later as RQMS. Awarded the Long Service & Good Conduct Medal in 1927. He retired on 26.8.1933 and joined the Civil Service, serving for a time in Melton Mowbray. On promotion he was sent to Ministry of Supply in London . He died in 1946, aged 56 years. On group photo he is seated 4th left.
