Biography :

James Halford enlisted at Leicester. Was serving in Aldershot with 'D' Company 1st Bn in 1910. Promoted to Corporal on 8.3.1913. Served with the 1st Battalion during World War One. As a Sergeant he was awarded the Military Medal (London Gazette 27.10.1916, page 10479). Killed in Action near Ors in France on 23.10.1918, aged 28 years. He is buried at St. Souplet British Cemetery, France. His M.M. and WW1 campaign medals are in the collection of Leicester City Museums Service.
