Biography :
Enlisted 9.10.1945, and joined 1st Bn The Leicestershire Regiment. Served in 1st R Leicesters in Hong Kong and Korea. Listed as Corporal in 1951. Served in A Coy as Sergeant in the Korean War, and was wounded on 11.11.1951. Middle distance (1 mile) Far East Athletics Champion 1949, 1950 and 1951. Represented the Battalion at rugby, hockey, basketball and at athletics. Later served in Cyprus, 12.10.1955 to 23.5.1958. Transferred to R Anglian Regt on its formation on 1.9.1964. Awarded the MBE as OIC 17 Army Youth Team, Leicester (L.G. 1.1.1967). Discharged from Army Service 17.2.1968.
