Biography :

Enlisted at Leicester 19.11.1896 into The Leicestershire Regiment. Awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal for services in the Mounted Infantry of the 4th Division in the Boer War (L.G. 27.9.1901). Also awarded Queen's South Africa Medal and King's South Africa Medal. (These medals are held by Leicester Museums service). Discharged 18.11.1908 at the termination of his period of engagement. Was presented to Queen Elizabeth II at Leicester on 9.5.1958 (see photo).
