Served in South Africa during the Boer War and awarded the Queen's South Africa medal with clasps for Cape Cod, Orange Free State and Transvaal. Also held two Good Conduct Badges. Discharged (time served) 4.2.1909. Re-enlisted 4.4.1912 at Shepshed and continued to serve in World War One, entering France 28.2.1915. Discharged, 17.1.1919.
