Educated at Oakham School, with a Rutland County County scholarship and then a Senior Scholarship.. Enlisted at Oakham into 5th Bn The Leicestershire Regiment (TA) in January 1911 Served in World War One with the 1/5th Bn, reaching the rank of Sgt. Died of wounds in France on 13.10.1915, aged 22. He is commemorated on Loos Memorial, Pas de Calais, France.
