Biography :
Home address given as 111 mere Road, Leicester. Educated at Wyggeston Grammar School, Harvey Flint enlisted on 10.12.1914 in the rank of Sapper in the Royal Engineers' Postal Section. He was commissioned into The Leicestershire Regiment on 31.10.1917., and served in both the 8th and 9th Battalions during World War One. He was awarded the Military Cross for his actions as a 2Lt in 9th Bn in the village of Epehy on 21.3.1918 (L.G. 26.7.1918: "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during an enemy attack. He held on to his post and organised a bombing party, driving back the enemy and capturing a machine gun and killing all the gun detachment. He also brought down a low-flying enemy aeroplane by Lewis-gun fire."). He was Killed in Action while attached to 8th Bn near the River Aisne on 27.5.1918, aged 27. His body not having been recovered, he is commemorated on the memorial at Soissons, Aisne, France. He is also commemorated in a stained glass window at St. Saviour's Church, Leicester.
