Biography :
Hanged at Lucknow, India on the 10.01.1887 for the murder of Lance Sergeant William Carmody. Was about 27 years old at the time of his execution. He maintained his innocence until the end. It is believed by the Kipling society that the above act the inspiration for Kipling's poem 'Danny Deever'.
