Farmer, Stephen

Biography :

Educated at Medway Street Council School and Secondary School in Leicester, Steve Farmer served in 1/4th Bn The Leicestershire Regiment as Lance Corporal 2646 and 200426,arriving in France on 2.3.1915, and reaching the rank of Corporal. He was commissioned 2Lt in on 30.5.1917, serving in 4th Bn. Towards the end of the war he was employed at the School of Technology, Manchester, and in the Army List December 1918 he is shown as employed in the Ministry of Labour. He made 29 appearances for Leicester Football Club 1912-19, scoring 12 tries and 36 points.
In The National Archives is held a paper file on Farmer, File Ref WO 374/23594.
