Evans, Walter Richard

Biography :
Walter Evans initially served in the Guernsey Light Infantry and then transferred to 2nd Bn The Leicestershire Regiment, from 1903 stationed in the Channel Islands. In the rank of Captain, was attached to the Depot in 1905 for a year to train Militia recruits, and served in 3rd Battalion 1905-1912, transferring to the Special Reserve of Officers on 21.6.1908. He was appointed Instructor of Musketry of 3rd Bn on 27.1.1909. Played rugby for Leicester Football Club in 1905 (one cap). Died 15.12.1916, aged 46 years. He is buried at St. George-Super-Ely (St. George) Churchyard, Glamorganshire.
