Dennis, Samuel Henry

Biography :

Educated at Wyggeston Gramar School, Samuel Dennis joined the Regiment on 19.12.1914 and served with 2/4th Battalion during World War One in England till 24.2.1917 and then in France till 7.10.1917. He was promoted LCpl on 8.6.1915, Cpl on 19.6.1915, and Sergeant on 25.2.1917. He was wounded on 23.4.1917. Joining No.18 Officer Cadet Battalion at Bath on 9.11.1917, he was commissioned on 30.4.1918 and served with the 1/5th Bn in France. Demobilised 30.3.1919. After the war he played four times for the first team of Leicester Football Club in 1919. He died in 1933, aged 43 years.
