Home address given as Nottinghamshire. Enlisted 4.2.1931. Appointed Paid Lance Corporal 9.1.1934. Was serving in2nd Bn The Leicestershire Regiment as at 1.9.1939. Awarded the Military Medal for gallantry as an Anti-Tank Gun NCO, 2nd Leicesters, Sidi Barrani, Libya, on 10.12.1940 (L.G. 25.4.1941). Killed in Action in Syria on 11.7.1941, aged 33. He is buried in Damascus Commonwealth War Cemetery, Syria
