Played both Football and Rugby for the Regimental team and rugby for Leicester Football Club 80 times from 1908-1914, scoring 26 tries and 78 points. He served in 1st Bn during World War One, entering France on 9.9.1914. Killed in Action at Guedecourt on the Somme on 15.9.1916, aged 29 years. He is commemorated on Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.
