Biography :
Educated at St Catharine's College, Cambridge, Jack Cox was a master at Oakham School 1939-72, serving with Oakham School O.T.C. at the outbreak of World War Two. Served in The Leicestershire Regiment in 1940-41, and was invalided out on 13.1.1942. Returned to Oakham School: CO CCF 1944-72 as Lieutenant Colonel, and was later Head of Maths, Head of Science, and Second Master (Deputy Head) 1967-72. Awarded the T.D., and O.B.E. for 21 years as CO CCF 1944-66 (L.G. 11.6.1966). Awarded the Cadet Forces Medal on 28.1.1966, and 1st Clasp to the Cadet Forces Medal on 29.11.1977, by which time he was at Milton Abbey School, of which he was Acting Second Master for a while and from which he retired from the CCF on 31.8.1981.
