Biography :

Educated at Loughborough Grammar School, Sydney Corah joined the ranks of The Leicestershire Regiment in November 1914. He was commissioned 2Lt in 5th Bn The Leicestershire Regiment on 21.5.1915, and served in 1/5th Bn. He was wounded at Gommecourt in March 1917. After his recovery he was at Somercotes Camp for some time, and was made Acting Captain till he went to France again in September. He was Killed in Action on the Hindenburg Line on 3.10.1918, aged 26. He is buried at Busigny Communal Cemetery Extension, Nord, France. He is commemorated on the Loughborugh Grammar School War memorial, at Carillon, War Memorial Bell Tower, and at Woodgate Baptist Church.
