Biography :

Commissioned in mid-1938 into the 5th Bn, as a Captain and Intelligence Officer of 1/5th Bn he was awarded a Mention in Despatches (L.G. 20.12.1940) for his actions at Lillehammer, Norway, on 21 Apr 1940; he was subsequently awarded the Norwegian Military Cross for gallantry for the same action (L.G. 11.8.1942). He was wounded in Norway in April 1940, avoided capture but was interned in Sweden for a time. Later served with the 1/5th Bn ('C' Wing 148 pre-O.C.T.U. Training Establishment). As Major he was wounded in the hand and in hospital in November 1944. Retired the service, 1961.
