Further info: Samuel was born Barrow upon Soar. He moved to Cleethorpes from Mountsorrel and married and by that time had 6 children. It is likely that Samuel moved from Mountsorrel with my grandfather, his brother and 2 sisters. When he enlisted in the regiment he was resident in Cleethorpes, but the enlistment place is shown Spurn Yorks. Although Spurn at that time had more of a community than today it was mainly made up of Lifeboat crew. If Samuel was working over at Spurn It is assumed he would have travelled there by boat.
