Biography :

Home address given as Burbage, Leicestershire. Enlisted at Hinckley, Leicestershire. Served with the 1st Bn during World War One. Killed in action France and Flanders campaign 19.9.1918. He is buried at Trefcon British Cemetery, Caulaincourt, France.

Frederick, known as Daniel by his family, was the fourth child of the six children of Reuben and Sarah Charles. By 1918 both his parents had died and his older brother, Joseph Horace, had been killed in action in 1916 in Mesopotamia also serving with the Regiment (as 10879). By 12.9.1918 the battle for Epehy had commenced and by 18.9.1918 a significant advance had been made on the Hindenburg Line. On 19.9.1918 Daniel was killed in action and is buried in the cemetery of Trefon at Caulaincourt, France.
