Cecil was the middle son of John and Sarah of Kilby bridge, Wigston, his eldest brother, William Thomas Chapman was killed on 23.10.1916, 14012, 3rd Dorsets attached to the 7th Munster Fusiliers at Gallipoli and his youngest brother, Arthur Edward Chapman, 27052, 1st Leicesters was killed 2.2.1917.
