Biography :

Private Bustin served in 3rd Militia Bn The Leicestershire Regiment in the Boer War in South Africa in 1902. He was severely wounded at Molteno, South Africa, on 22.4.1902: a wound that was accidentally self-inflicted. In WW1 he served initially in 4th Bn from 1.12.1914, being promoted LCpl on 23.4.1915. He served in the Royal Defence Corps from 29.4.1916-6.3.1917, when he transferred to 2/4th Bn, and then back to 4th Bn and reverting to Pte on 12.3.1917. On 10.6.1917 he transferred to The Notts & Derbyshire Regiment (Sherwood Foresters), and served as Private 235061 in their 17th Bn and then 16th Bn. He was awarded the Military Medal (L.G. 11.1.1918). He was Killed in Action at Pozieres in France in the German spring offensive on 21.3.1918, aged 37 years.
His body not having been recovered, he is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial.
