Biography :

As a Private Matthew ('Danny') Bush was posted to 2nd Bn from the Depot 1.10.1929. Promoted Unpaid Lance Corporal 25.1.1930, Paid Lance Corporal 3.1.1931, Lance Sergeant 14.2.1935 and Sergeant 2.12.1937. Mentioned in Despatches for distinguished services in the Middle East the period August 1939 to November 1940 as RQMS, 2nd Leicesters, Palestine. Later served with the 1/5th Bn Leicestershire Regiment ('C' Wing 148 pre-O.C.T.U. Training Establishment) and with the ATS at Glen Parva Barracks in 1942, and back to 1/5th Bn in 1944. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal (23.6.1952). He was a member of the General Committee of The Royal Tigers' Association from 1946 to 1953. He died in about 1967-1968. His medals in the collection of Leicester City Museums Service.
