Biography :
Whilst serving with the 2nd Battalion of the Leicestershire Regiment, Private Burton was a recipient of the India General Service Medal (with Burma 1887-89 clasp). With the 1st Battalion, he was later a recipient of the Queen's South Africa Medal three clasps. These objects are in the collection of the Leicester City Museums Service.
