Biography :

Educated at RMA Sandhurst, Anthony Burke was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant into The York & Lancaster Regiment on 14.7.1949. Promoted Lt on 14.7.1951. He was awarded the M.C. for his actions serving in 1st R Leicesters in Korea as a platoon commander on 19.11.1951 in the battle of Maryang-San (L.G. 29.4.1952), and was wounded that day. Promoted Captain on 2.5.1957, and Major on 14.7.1962. On the disbandment of The York & Lancaster Regiment, he transferred to The Green Howards on 14.12.1968. He retired on retired pay on 25.6.1984 and was granted the hon. rank of Lt Col.
He died in 1991, aged 62 years. He was buried at Easingwold, N Yorkshire.
