Biography :
Gordon Brown was commissioned into The Leicestershire Regiment on 21.8.1943, and served in 1st Leicesters in England and NW Europe. Awarded a Mention in Despatches (L.G. 9.8.1945) and the Military Cross (L.G. 24.1.1946) for his bravery and leadership in actions as Carrier Platoon and D Company Commander, 1st Leicesters, NW Europe 1944-45 (esp at Zetten Jan 1945). In 1946 he was OC D and then A Company 1st Bn. He died in 1995, aged 81 years.
