Biography :
Enlisted in the Leicester Military District into the Leicestershire Regiment, 1896, and served in 1st Bn in the Boer War. His service there included Talana, Ladysmith, Laing's Nek and Belfast, for which he received the Queen's South Africa Medal (with the a/m four clasps) and the King's South Africa Medal (with clasps !901 and 1902). His medals are in the collection of Leicester Arts & Museum Service, as are those of his son W. Bott.
