Having previously served with the Militia District, James Bolesworth attested into the Leicestershire Regiment, 19.10.1904. Served with the 1st Bn during World War One in the France and Flanders campaign, first entering France 10.8.1914. Killed in action,15.9.1916, aged 30. He is buried at Guillemont Road Cemetery, Somme, France.
