Home address given as Broughton Astley, Leicestershire. Enlisted at Leicester, 3.9.1914. Served with 8th Battlion during World War One, entering France 20.6.1915. Killed in action France and Flanders campaign 15.7.1916, aged 26. He is commemorated on Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.

George was one of the seven children of Thomas William (a farmworker) and Eliza Blockley, of Broughton Astley, Leicester. Prior to the war George was employed as a gardener. He enlisted at Leicester on 3rd September 1914, went to France on 29th July 1915 and was wounded in the field on 10th June 1916.
George Blockley died on 15th July 1916, aged 26, during the fighting at Bazentin le Petit.
