Biography :

Christened 'Francis' Blake, he enlisted as Frank Blake at Shepshed, Leicestershire, aged 16 years (having lied about his age). He served with 1/5th Bn The Leicestershire Regiment in World War One, entering France on 19.8.1915. He was Killed in Action near Gommecourt in France on 1.7.1916, aged 17. He is buried at Foncquevillers Military Cemetery, France. He was the youngest soldier citizen of Shepshed to be killed in action during the war.
