Home address given as Mountsorrel. Frederick Bignell enlisted in Loughborough, Leics. He served in 7th Battalion The Leicestershire Regiment in the first World War. He was Killed in Action near Gueudecourt on 25.9.1916, aged 42 years. He is buried at the Guards' Cemetery, Lesboeufs, Somme, France.
He was the father of George Frederick Bignell MM (10037), who was serving in the same Battalion at the same period.
