Biography :

From Cadet 1423717 Victor Bidgood was commissioned 2Lt in the Royal Armoured Corps on 10.10.1943. From 59 Training Regiment RAC at Barnard Castle, Durham, he joined 1st Bn The Leicestershire Regiment at Purley on 11.12.1943. He served in the Bn in France and Belgium, 1944 and Netherlands and Germany in 1945. He was awarded M.C. for his brave leadership in action at Merxplas, Belgium, September 1944 (L.G. 21.12.1944). Died on 9.6.1945, aged 21, as a result of injuries sustained in a motor accident near Hemer on 8.6.1945. He is buried in Muenster Heath War Cemetery, Germany.
