Biography :
Joseph Bettles was serving in 4th Bn The Northamptonshire Regiment from about 1906. He was Sergeant 200061 when WW1 started and entered France on 30.9.1918. He was commissioned into The Leicestershire Regiment on 26.6.1918, and served with 5th Bn. Killed in Action 7.11.1918, aged 31 years. He is buried at Etroeugnt Communal Cemetery, France. Posthumously he was awarded the Territorial Efficiency Medal in May 1921.
