Biography :
Alfred Benger began the First World War as Private PS/1266 in 9th (Public School) Bn The Royal Fusiliers. Commissioned a temp 2Lt in 10th Bn The Leicestershire Regiment on 24.7.1915. Entered France on 15.3.1916. Served in 11th Bn. Died of wounds at Mazingarbe on 17.4.1917, aged 39. He is buried at Mazingarbe Communal Cemetery Extension, France.
