Biography :

William Baxter enlisted in The Leicestershire Regiment in Sep 1914, joining 11th Bn. He saw service during the Irish Rebellion and in France during the Battle of the Somme. In April 1916, his Bn was redesignated 11th Bn (Midland Pioneers). He was commissioned 2Lt in the Regiment on 31.7.1917. Killed in Action near Vaulx in France on 22.3.1918, aged 23. He is commemorated on Arras Memorial, Pas-de-Calais, France.
