Died of wounds received on 28.9.1916 and at the Southern General Hospital, Birmingham 23.10.1916. He is buried at Castle Donington Cemetery, Leicestershire. and his memorial scroll is in the collection of Leicester City Museums Service.
Sgt. Barker was the older brother of Corporal 15045 Fred Barker; photo shows John, seated, with brother Fred, standing.
