Home address given as Ravenstone. Enlisted at Coalville, Leics, August 1914. Served with the 1/5th Battalion during World War One. Killed in action in Belgium, 23.7.1915, aged 20. He is commemorated on Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Ieper, Belgium.
George was the second son of Jacob Andrews, a journeyman painter and decorator and mother Mary Elizabeth Andrews. Brother Jake Clarke Andrews Lcpl 10124 1st Bedfordshires was killed in action on 07.11.1914 during the retreat from Mons and remembered on Le Touret Memorial, France. George remembered on Ypres (Menin Gate) memorial, panel 33. Both also remembered on Ravenstone church, Coalville, Leicestershire, war memorial.
