Biography :

From Officer Training Unit Sandhurst, Laurence Ablitt was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant in The Leicestershire Regiment on 25.2.1940. Served in 7th Bn. Promoted to Temp. Captain and War Sub. Lieut. on 9.1.1941. He was playing cricket and hockey for that Bn in 1943, and later that year he moved to serve on the Combined Operations staff. He was serving in India in August 1945.
He died in 1987, aged 70 years.
