Biography :
Enlisted 7.10.1932 in the Regular Army Leicestershire Regiment for 7 years service and 5 in reserve. Served with Leicestershire Regiment in the 1930s and during World War Two. Transferred to Green Howards on 16.9.1942.
Further Info: Served with 1/5th Leicesters in the Norwegian campaign - "Operation Sickleforce" (148th Inf. Brigade). Was cut off during battles in Lillehammer/Gudbrandsdal area 20th-23rd April and escaped eastwards to Sweden together with 30 other Britsih soldiers of 1/5th Leicesters and 8th Btn Sherwood Foresters. Kept in internment at Falun some 2-3 months before being repatriated via Petsamo and Iceland or Lerwick.
