Enlisted 13.6.1940. Served with Leicestershire Regiment during World War Two. Released Class 'A' 13.1.1946 and Class 'Z' (T) Army Reserve 25.3.1946.
Taken from the letter of Private Albert Henry Eustace dated 8.8.1944: 'I heard that one of the fellows had been shot in the shoulder, Darling, but I didn't know that it was Horace Abbott. Lucky fellow, he is out of it now for a while and back in England.'
