Biography :

Educated at King James School in Lytham, Lancashire, Gerald Dewhurst served in England as a Private from 16.11.1944 until Apr 1945. He embarked for India on 5.7.1945 and was a Cadet at the Officer Training School in India to Jan 1946. He was commissioned into The Leicestershire Regiment on 13.1.1946. From 23.2.1946 he served in 2nd Bn The Worcestershire Regiment in Burma. Promoted to War Substantive Lt on 13.7.1946. He attended an MTO course at Kalaw in Jun 1946 and another at the RASC (Far East) Training School in Singapore in Aug/Sep 1946, before being appointed MTO of 2nd Worc R on 22.11.1946.
He died in 1976, aged 51 years.
