Biography :

Educated at Clifton College, James Dempster was commissioned into 3rd Bn The South Staffordshire Regiment and transferred to The Leicestershire Regiment on 6.7.1907, and joined 1st Bn in India, transferring to 2nd Bn in 1908. He joined the Indian Army in 1911, transferring to the 66th Punjabis. In the First World War he was Mentioned in Despatches. He was promoted Temp Captain on 14.7.1916, by which time he had died of wounds in Mesopotamia on 24.11.1915.
