Bell, Reginald Francis - MM
Rank : Sgt
Army Number : Northumberland Fusiliers 58284
Unit : 5th T.R.B.H.
Biography :
58284 as receiving the Military Medal as a Corporal in the Northumberland Fusiliers. his notebook states that he was at the Northern School of Musketry in April/May 1917 – also clearly states here that he is ’Leicestershire Regiment“ 5th TRB.H. Also mentions meeting up with people from the ’old 5th TRB“ in a letter from just behind the front line having fought for 16 days straight in the 4th Battle of Ypres – Estaire/Lys. At this time he was some sort of ’Gunner“ as he says he was the only ’Gun“ that returned to the Battalion HQ – but it is suspected by this time he was definitely with the Northumberland Fusiliers.
