Biography :
Educated at Oakham School (1950-1954), Peter North was granted a National Service commission in The Royal Leicestershire Regiment on 15.10.1955 and served in 1st Bn in Cyprus. Promoted Lt in the TA on 12.4.1957. He read Law at Keble College, Oxford, being awarded BA 1959, BCL 1960, MA 1963, DCL 1976, Oxon. Barrister. Teaching Fellow, Northwestern University, Chicago, 1960-61; Assistant Lecturer, 1961-62, Lecturer 1962-63, Aberystwyth. Lecturer 1964-65, Nottingham, University of Auckland 1969. Visiting Professor, University of British Columbia 1975-76; Tutorial Fellow, 1975-76, Fellow by Special Election 1975-84. Honorary Bencher (Inner Temple). Elected Fellow of the British Academy (FBA) in 1990.
