Biography :
Tony Powell enlisted as Pte 24064817 in the ranks of 1st Bn 1st East Anglian Regiment in the 1960s, and later served in 1st R Anglian including as RQMS in Oakington and Belize, and RSM. Commissioned into R Anglian 1.9.1984. For his actions as QM 1st R Anglian in Gibraltar/Colchester/South Armagh 1986-90, he was awarded the M.B.E. (L.G. 14.6.1990). Promoted Major on 30.9.1990. He was Training Major 7th R Anglian (V) 1990-94, and later as a Lt Col he was Commandant of Stanford Training Area. Retired 30.3.2001.
