Educated at RMA Sandhurst and commissioned into The 3rd East Anglian Regiment on 22.12.1961, he served in 1/3 E Anglian and its sucessor 3rd R Anglian, including in Aden 1967. Promoted Lt Col 31.12.1981. CO 7th R Anglian (V) 1982-84 and awarded O.B.E. (L.G. 31.12.1984). Retired 31.5.1986.
